Skylight Firm Announces Organization Change

Major Industries is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Voigt has been promoted to Director of Operations. Jeff is a native of the Wausau area, currently living in Rib Mountain. Jeff is a 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

After graduation from UWEC, Jeff gained valuable construction experience working for his father’s company, Voigt Contracting, Inc. located here in Wausau. Jeff joined Major Industries in 1999 as a Contract Administrator. In that capacity, he negotiated construction contracts with some of the largest commercial contractors in the United States, including: M.A. Mortenson, Turner Construction, Adolfson & Peterson, Miron, Boldt, and many others. He was promoted to Business Operations Manager in August of 2002, assuming the additional responsibility of managing Major’s day-to-day business operations.

As the new Director of Operations, Jeff will be working closely with the President of Major Industries to define new policies, assist in the monitoring of company performance, and to help individual departments re-focus on excellent customer service.

This level of management authority has been given to Jeff to facilitate the development of company-wide systems and to improve communication between departments. In addition, Jeff has been given greater authority to define interdepartmental procedures, resolve internal roadblocks, and authorize financial expenditures with the overall goal of positioning Major Industries for continued growth.

Major Industries is pleased to announce that Rick Towne has been promoted to Accounting Manager. Rick, a native of Tomahawk, has lived in Wausau for the past nine years.

During Rick’s six year career at Major he has worked in all aspects of our accounting function, while at the same time completing his Accounting Degree. As the Accounting Manager, Rick is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the company as well as overseeing the interim and year-end financial reporting to internal and external sources.

Rick has earned this promotion under the watchful eye of Bill Thomas, our longtime Accounting Chief. In the new 2005 organization, Bill will work for Rick as a Senior Accountant and continue in his Controller role for Toenjes Properties, LCC.

Rick will report directly to the Director of Operations.

Major Industries is pleased to announce that Jeff Wirkus, our Compliance Manager has been promoted to the Staff Level with additional responsibilities beyond his current position. Jeff is a native of the Wausau area, currently residing in Weston. Jeff has been with Major Industries for 19 years.

As Compliance Manager, Jeff has been responsible for ensuring compliance throughout the company in the areas of product installation, warranty, safety, and training. In his expanded role, Jeff will also be auditing our internal quality control programs to ensure departmental participation and compliance.

Jeff will report directly to the President for added emphasis and to underscore our constant need to improve product quality for our customers.

With the 2005 re-organization of Major Industries, we are pleased to announce that our Plant Manager, Gene Morrissey, has been promoted to the Staff Level. Gene is a native of the Antigo area, living there most of his life. Prior to his position at Major Industries, Gene was a Value Stream Manager and Quality Assurance Manager for a local high precision manufacturing facility in Antigo that supplied custom designed bearings for the power generation, gas and oil, and marine drive markets.

As Plant Manager, Gene is responsible for the overall performance of all manufacturing activities including design drafting, production planning, purchasing, quality, traffic, shipping, and manufacturing processes.

Gene will report directly to the President of Major Industries, Inc.

Jennifer Zick has been promoted to Operations Supervisor. Jennifer is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin but currently resides in Wittenberg. Prior to being promoted, she worked as an Office Assistant and as Assistant Contract Administrator for Major Industries.

As the Operations Supervisor, Jennifer will be responsible for the supervision of the Operations Department and all aspects of Human Resources including employment ad placement and creation, interviewing for all levels of the company, employment law compliance, personnel records, benefit administration, assisting supervisors in disciplinary actions, coordination of employment guidelines, processing credit applications, and accounts receivable invoicing.

Jennifer will be reporting directly to the Director of Operations.

Goals for the re-organization at Major Industries include improved customer communication, on-time deliveries, and excellent product quality.
