Guardian 275® Skylights Meet OSHA Safety Standards

Guardian 275® Skylights, a division of Major Industries, Inc. is pleased to announce that their standard translucent insulated sandwich panel meets or exceeds OSHA fall protection guidelines. Guardian 275® Skylights were tested according to ASTM E-661 to address a growing need for fall protection being engineered directly into skylights or other unprotected roof openings. This market need is being created by OSHA regulation (29 CFR 1910, 1926), which defines the need to protect workers from hazards associated with various roof and floor openings.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23 (e)(8)
“…shall be of such construction and mounting that they are capable of withstanding a load of at least 200 pounds perpendicularly at any one area…”
In some cases, a warning label on the skylight or a railing at the curb will meet the intent of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 1926. In today’s litigious society, full compliance and peace of mind is best served by providing fall protection at all skylight openings. Guardian 275® Skylights are a final solution to providing fall-through protection and meeting OSHA safety regulations.
ASTM E-661 Concentrated Load
Test panels are subjected to loads of 200 and 400 pounds on a three inch disk.
** All Guardian 275® Skylights exceed the structural requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1919.23.
