Guardian 275® - Performance Parameters

General:

Guardian 275® panels are manufactured by Major Industries in a strictly controlled environment designed to meet both our in-house quality policy and third-party acceptance criteria. Guardian 275® panels have passed rigorous testing required to meet standards set by Underwriter's Laboratory (UL), the International Code Council (Legacy Report listing PFC-5620), and have also been certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). Current NFRC testing evaluates fenestration as a complete system, including glazing and framing. Panels shall be 2-3/4" thick and consist of architectural grade glass fiber reinforced polymer sheets bonded under controlled heat and pressure to a mechanically interlocked aluminum I-beam grid core. Guardian 275® panels are also available in 1", 1-1/2" and 4" configurations.

Performance:

Guardian 275® panels shall have the following minimum performance characteristics:

  • Weatherability: Color change on exterior surfaces shall not be more than 4.0 units (Delta E, per ASTM D-2244) when exposed to 126,000 megajoules of full spectrum sunlight.
  • Advanced Weathering Protection: Ultimate Series™ technology utilizes a unique blend of polymers, UV inhibitors, color stabilizers, and a permanent fiberbloom erosion veil to establish a new benchmark for long-term performance.
  • Impact Resistance: Exterior face sheets meet or exceed the requirements per UL 972. Optional high-impact (360 ft/lbs) available.
  • Flame Spread and Smoke Development: Interior FRP face sheet exceeds CC1 requirements with a flame spread of 20, smoke 150, per ASTM E-84. Burn extend less than 1" per ASTM D-365.
  • Bond Strength: Exceeds all industry standards for long-term adhesive performance (ASTM C-297, ASTM D-1037-99, ASTM D-1002-01). Initial bond strength between fiberglass face sheet and aluminum grid core will increase a minimum of 60% through its natural aging process.
  • "U" Factors: See Light and Thermal Performance Report
  • Grid Core: 6061-T6 aluminum I-beam, 7/16" flange width, that is mechanically interlocked to ensure inner strength and even intersections. Grid core available with optional poured and debridged structural polyurethane thermal break.

      1. Architectural Class I clear anodized Type AA-M10C22 A41 (supercedes AAMA 607.1).
      2. Architectural Class II clear anodized type AA-M10C22-A31.
      3. Architectural Class I pigmented anodized Type AA-M10C22 A42 (supercedes AAMA 606.1).
