Case Study - South Cedar Hills Elementary

Guardian 275®

Guardian 275® translucent skylights are available in a variety of custom configurations, including complex and awe-inspiring polygons. Sandstrom Architects, of Orem, Utah, chose to take advantage of this unique design when creating South Cedar Hills Elementary.

Daylighting and educational facilities go hand-in-hand. Studies have shown that natural light benefits students in numerous ways, including improved concentration, better test scores, and improved mood. Natural light can also benefit the bottom line by providing copious amounts of light during the daytime hours, substantially reducing energy costs and the need for artificial light sources.

The skylight becomes an extension of the interior space and leads the eye upward through the use of stunning architectural details. To enhance this effect, Sandstrom Architects also chose to finish the skylight structural members in a similar color to the surrounding walls, extending the viewer’s eye into the skylight and creating a more cohesive space.

Whether you want your skylights or curtain wall to blend in seamlessly or make a bold and colorful statement, Major Industries will work with you to create the optimal daylighting solution for your next project.
